1. What We Collect
What you type in
- Display name: the name you enter when you set up. It is shown to other people at the same party. It does not have to be your real name.
- Emoji avatar: the face you pick from a fixed list. There is no photo upload and no camera roll access — Party Pulse cannot take or store a picture of you.
What happens as you use the app
- Votes: which songs you voted "Love It" or "Hate It" on, for the party you are in.
- Participation: how many songs you voted on, which is what decides your place in the DJ queue.
- Songs you queue: the tracks you add to your own stack and play while you are the DJ.
What we do not collect
- No email address, phone number, password or account. Party Pulse signs you in anonymously — even we cannot tell who you are.
- No photographs. No access to your camera roll.
- No location. Party Pulse does not use GPS and does not ask for location access.
- No contacts, calendar, health or payment data.
- No advertising identifier, and no tracking across other apps or websites.
2. How We Use It
Only to run the party you are at:
- Show your name and emoji to the other people in the same party
- Count votes and work out when the crowd has turned on a song
- Order the DJ queue by how much everyone has taken part
- Keep every device — phones, iPads and the Apple TV — showing the same thing
- Count anonymous totals for the public stats page (see section 5)
We do not build a profile of you, we do not use your data to train anything, and we do not use it to advertise to you.
3. Deletion — The Key Point
Deleted automatically, without you having to ask:
- The party itself and its list of participants
- Every vote cast in it
- The DJ queue, positions and participation counts
- The songs that were queued and played
- Your display name and emoji, once every party you were in has expired
You can also leave a party at any time, which removes you from its participant list and its DJ queue straight away. The rest is cleared on the 24-hour sweep.
Your name and emoji are also kept on your own device so you do not have to type them again. That copy is yours — deleting the app removes it.
One thing does outlast the sweep, and we would rather say so than let you find out: signing in anonymously creates a random sign-in id for your device, and that id remains on file. It is a string of characters and nothing else — no name, no email, no device details — and once the party data is gone there is nothing left for it to point at. Deleting the app and reinstalling gets you a new one.
4. What We Share
We do not sell, rent or trade your information. It leaves your device in exactly three directions:
- Other people at your party: your display name, your emoji, your queue position and the songs you play. Your individual votes are not shown to anyone — only the totals are.
- Google Firebase: our hosting provider, which stores party data on our behalf for the 24 hours it exists. They process it for us and for nothing else.
- Apple Music: song searches and playback requests. Apple's handling of those is covered by Apple's privacy policy. Only the device hosting the party plays music, and only that device needs an Apple Music subscription.
5. Anonymous Statistics
We keep running totals — how many parties have been started, how many songs played, how many votes cast, and which songs are trending. These are counters, not records: nothing in them is connected to you, your device or your name, and they survive the 24-hour deletion because there is nothing personal left in them to delete.
6. Permissions
Party Pulse asks for three things, all of which you can refuse or change later in Settings:
- Camera: to scan a party's QR code. The camera is used to read the code and nothing else — no image is captured, saved or sent anywhere.
- Local Network: to spot parties running on the same Wi-Fi so you can join without typing a code or scanning the QR code.
- Apple Music: to search for songs and play them. Only the host's device plays music; if you are a guest you can decline this and still vote and queue songs.
Declining any of these leaves the rest of the app working — you can always join a party by typing its code.
7. Security
- All traffic between your device and our servers is encrypted in transit
- Every request is authenticated; only people in a party can vote in it
- Nothing personal is kept beyond 24 hours, so there is very little to lose
No system is perfect, and we will not pretend otherwise. But the honest protection here is that we hold so little for so short a time.
8. Children's Privacy
Party Pulse is intended for people aged 13 and over, and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13, and we ask for nothing that could identify one — no account, no email address, no date of birth, no photograph.
Nothing we hold about any participant, of any age, lasts longer than 24 hours. A parent or guardian who wants something removed sooner can reach us through the contact page, though in most cases the 24-hour deletion will already have done it.
9. Your Rights
Because we never ask who you are, we usually cannot find "your" data to hand over — there is no account to look you up by. What you can do:
- Leave a party to remove yourself from it immediately
- Delete the app to remove the copy of your name and emoji held on your device
- Wait — everything else goes within 24 hours whether you ask or not
If you are in the UK or EU and want to exercise a right under UK GDPR or GDPR, email us. Tell us the party code and roughly when you were there, and we will do what we can within the window the data still exists.
10. Changes to This Policy
If we change what we collect or how long we keep it, we will update this page and change the date at the top. Significant changes will be flagged in the app.
